Hysteroscopy Modules

The hysteroscopy modules teach the knowledge and skills needed to participate in hysteroscopic surgery or in providing training in hysteroscopy.

H1. Basic Hysteroscopy
The basic hysteroscopy module is primarily aimed at residents to provide them with the necessary hysteroscopy knowledge and psychomotor skills to enter the operating room. It will prepare doctors for the hysteroscopy part of the official level 1 certification of GESEA.

H2. Intermediate Hysteroscopy
The intermediate hysteroscopy module is aimed at residents to provide them with the necessary hysteroscopy knowledge and psychomotor skills to start basic procedures in the operating room.
Furthermore, it serves as a skill test for established surgeons to gain access to the GESEA Educational Programme. It will prepare doctors for the hysteroscopy part of the official level 2 certification of GESEA.

H3. MIGS Clinical Attachment
The Minimal Invasive Gynaecological Surgeon (MIGS) Clinical Attachment is a learning module where a surgeon will be stationed in one of our four pilot Fellowship centres to be trained in the surgical procedures of both laparoscopy and hysteroscopy in preparation to applying for the MIGS Diploma.

H4. Digital Hysteroscopy Centre
The combination of digital imaging and hysteroscopy provides a novel approach for precision medicine for efficient, accurate and patient-friendly uterine diagnosis and treatment as promoted through the Digital Hysteroscopy Centre (DHC). This module will train surgeons on the correct use of transvaginal simulators and ultrasound machines aiming to improve ultrasound skills and machine controls skills to ensure patients’ safety.

H5. Hysteroscopy for Nurses
This learning module focuses on providing education for nurses that prepare and support the surgeon in the operating room during hysteroscopic procedures. Topics will include: anatomy; acceptance, preparation and positioning of patients in the OR; use of energy, instruments, fluid balance; hysteroscopes and resectoscopes: assembly and use; challenges in hysteroscopy.

H6. Digital Hysteroscopy Centre for Nurses
Nurses play a primordial role in the Digital Hysteroscopy Centre (DHC). This course teaches how nurses are involved in the organisation, instrument management and patient pathway of outpatient hysteroscopy.

H7. Hysteroscopy for equipment operators
Industry plays an important role in supporting the training activities of health-care professionals. This course will teach non-clinical staff how the GESEA Training Tools are to be used with the hysteroscopy surgical equipment as made available by industry and how the educational curriculum as offered through GESEA can be correctly leveraged to increase patient wellbeing.

H8. Hysteroscopy for Training Specialists
The Hysteroscopy Train-the-Trainer module for Specialists focuses on how to teach the hysteroscopy learning modules and GESEA exercises to gynaecological surgeons. It provides instruction on the essential skills needed to get results in the classroom and will teach candidate trainers how to best make the connection between the hysteroscopy skill training and the surgical procedures.

H9. Laparoscopy for Training Nurses
The Hysteroscopy Train-the-Trainer module for Nurses focuses on how to properly instruct the learning modules to nurses. It will identify the essential components of an effective training session and highlight the role of the nurse during hysteroscopic surgery in relation to the offered training methodology.
